Difference Between Lever And Prong Belts

A lever belt and a prong belt are both types of weightlifting belts that are designed to support and stabilize the spine during heavy lifts. However, they differ in their design and the way they provide support.

A lever belt is made of a single piece of material, usually leather or synthetic leather, that wraps around the waist and fastens with a lever mechanism. The lever mechanism allows the lifter to adjust the tightness of the belt easily and quickly, which can be useful during heavy lifts where the lifter may need to adjust their belt for added support. On the other hand, a prong belt is made of multiple pieces of material, usually leather or synthetic leather, that are held together by prongs or teeth. The prongs allow the lifter to adjust the tightness of the belt by pinching the prongs together, similar to how a belt buckle works. Prong belts tend to be more rigid than lever belts and are often favored by powerlifters because they provide a high level of support and stability during heavy lifts such as squats and deadlifts. However, they can be less comfortable than lever belts and can be more difficult to adjust on the fly.
